At that moment – is my site of ideias and sights.

To comprehend anything human, be it personal or collective, one must tell its history.

Ortega Y Gasset

I am a midle-aged pediatrician, I’ve seen much by practicing intensive care for almost 20 years. I love children, I love talking to them, I love to laugth and to repeat their jokes. My professional choice made it possible, I can talk, care, weep and celebrate.

I take pictures of my little patients. Yes, I do. Christmas, Carnival, Easter, I take my camera and take off my scrubs. I don’t talk about medicine, I help family choosing costumes, colors and light. They let me doing the most pleasure hobby, I collect illustrated stories.

In the last Brazilian Conference on Intensive Care, I could show some of my pictures. It was a great photo exhibition in the lounge. I needed to explain who were those children and parents, there was no room for it. My cousin helped me to create a site. I asked for a QR code, So I wrote about patients, families and about me. It was a success, 900 views in the first day!

I continued my work, medicine, photography and writting. I am not the most disciplined writter, not always motivated, but sometimes, the story is just there to be told, I can’t resist! When I write, I remember how much I love it.

Last month, I participated in the Narrative Medicine workshop in New York. I didn’t know what it was, I still don’t know. I met Rita Charon and great friends, I had of the most interesting and exciting experience in my life. I think it has something to do with my project, I don’t know.

For my new friends, I re-wrote some lines in english. Well, it is not easy to translate emotion, for sure. I am just doing it because I can’t ask for professional translation, it doesn’t work that way. My american friends, Kyle and Sughey, helped me for these 2 texts, about Liz and Laura. I hope you enjoy it!

My first two english posts are available here.
